Can I upload a DVD film to Blackboard?

Answer

No this is not allowed. This is a type of format shifting and is a breach of copyright unless permission has been obtained from the copyright owner.    

Check the Video Online databases on the library website’s Online Resources, (the link to which is at the bottom of the page). These titles can be linked to on Blackboard allowing your students to have access to the content. The library can also help you to find permalinks for these resources if you require.

There is also a collection Unlisted YouTube videos available for lecturers to use in teaching. Information about these and how to get the links are available using the link at the bottom of the page.

USB plug in DVD players can also be borrowed from the library if you wish to show a DVD film to students in class. 

If you do need to format shift and therefore request permission from the copyright owner, use the Request for Copyright Permission at the bottom if this FAQ.

If/when permission is granted upload the permission to Content Manager. Link to the file location is below:
