How do I label and attribute Creative Commons materials?

Answer

There are various types of licences for Creative Commons (CC) materials, and attribution for them is slightly different to other forms of attribution. The key is to follow the TASL acronym for attributing CC material.

Title – Provide the title of the image.

Author/Creator – Credit the creator or photographer with a link to their page (if applicable)

Source – If the resource was obtained online, hyperlink to the URL of the original

Licence – Indicate the type of CC licence and hyperlink to the licence terms.

Further and more detailed information about Creative Commons materials and how to attribute them can be found on the Finding & Using CC & OER Material guide under Staff Resources on the Library Webpage. The link to which can be found below.
