Using AI to Modify 3rd Party material under Statutory Text and Artistic Licence

Answer

Under limited circumstances, (i.e you cannot create your own, you cannot use public domain or creative common material, or you are unable to use a web link) NMTAFE can copy, and communicate text as long as the amount copied "does not unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests" of the copyright holder.

This also includes any modification of material using AI.

When modifying materials:

  • Only modify and use material for educational purposes.
  • Make sure it is only accessible to appropriate students and staff, no public access.
  • Only modify and use what you need.
  • Ensure material used under this licence is immediately removed after you are done with it.

Label the material appropriately, along with any additional labeling requirements of the AI Tool used.
