Default Password
Your initial password is:
tafewa (all lower-case) your date of birth (DDMMYYYY)
Example:
If your date of birth is 14 September 2006, your password will be:
tafewa14092006
If the default password does not work, please contact one of the Campus Libraries.
New Password Requirements
- Must be at least 14 characters long.
- Can include any combination of letters and numbers.
- Passwords expire every 6 months.
Tip: Use words or phrases that are easy for you to remember.
How to Change Your Password
You can change your password using either Microsoft 365 or the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Using Microsoft 365
- Go to the Microsoft 365 landing page.
- Click the Settings (cog icon) in the top-right corner.
- Select Change password.
Using Microsoft Authenticator
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Select your TAFE account.
- Tap Change password.
Forgotten or Expired Password
If you forget your password or it has expired, you can reset it:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 sign-in page.
- Click Can't access your account.
- Select Work or school account.
- Enter your student email in the Email or username field.
- Complete the CAPTCHA and click Next.
- Follow the Microsoft verification steps using your phone number, email, or Authenticator app.

Note: Passwords cannot be changed via chat or email by Client Services or Library staff.
