How do I generate a reference from an online database, ebook, journal article or the library catalogue?

Answer

Online resources such as these will always have a referencing or citation tool embedded in them.

Look out for tabs or links with the words 'Reference', 'Cite this' or 'Citation' and symbols such as quotation marks.

This is where you will find your reference generator. Such tools will offer a number of referencing styles so make sure you are generating the correct one.

At North Metropolitan TAFE, the required style is APA 7th Edition unless otherwise directed by lecturers.

We highly recommend checking any references that you generate against the examples in the NMT APA referencing guide (link below) to ensure that it complies with APA 7th Edition rules.
