How do I update my SmartRider to a Tertiary SmartRider?

Full-time, classroom-based students are entitled to concessions on Transperth services. You can update your existing SmartRider to a Tertiary SmartRider through the Student Portal. If you do not have a SmartRider, you can purchase one from a Transperth Infocentre or retail outlet.
- Go to northmetrotafe.wa.edu.au and scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will find a link to the Student Portal. Log in with your student number and password.
- Select MyDetails
- Scroll down and click Add on the right hand side.
- In the box that appears, set the Alternate ID Type to Transperth SmartRider
- In the Alternate ID field, enter the 9 digit SR number on your SmartRider.
- Click Save on the right hand side.
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) will be notified of your enrolment status overnight and apply the tertiary concession rate to your card.
To avoid unnecessary fines, make sure you carry both your student SmartRider and your Student Card while using a student concession on public transport. Even if you buy a cash ticket.
